                            Zones
 Most
of British Columbia is on Pacific Standard Time,
except for a small portion of the north east corner
and the south east corner. These two areas are on
                              Mountain Standard Time. Like
most regions of North America, B.C. uses Daylight
Saving Time during part of the year. This means
that we change our clocks every fall and spring.
In the fall, the clocks go back an hour and in the
spring clocks go ahead an hour. Fall back and spring
ahead, that's really all one needs to remember. Telephone Area Codes
 B.C. has
three telephone area codes. They are 250, 604, and 778. Area code
604 originally covered all of British Columbia. Because of increased population
and phone usage, in 1996 area code 604 was split to form 250. At that
time 604 was primarily Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, 250 served the
rest of the province. As the Greater Vancouver and Fraswer Valley areas
grew, area code 778 was introduced in those areas. In 2008, area code
778 was expanded to cover all of the 604 and 250 areas. |
