Crazy Bear Wilderness Lodge
For
those who enjoy quiet solitude, Crazy Bear Wilderness Lodge
is a beautiful and Exclusive Fly-In Fishing Lodge nestled
in British Columbia's majestic Chilcotin wilderness mountains.
Remote and wild, yet comfortable, describes the unique fishing
adventure, available only by floatplane, near the southeast
corner of Tweedsmuir Provincial Park. Our remote fishing lodge
is a place for peaceful fishing while enjoying our breathtaking
scenery.
Crazy Bear Lake is connected to a chain of 5 smaller lakes which
are nestled among the snow-capped mountains at the edge of
BC's rugged coastal mountain range. The snowpack runoff keeps
these lakes cool, even in the hot summer months --- that is
why fishing for resident Wild Rainbow Trout remains constant
and plentiful in our Crystal Clear lakes throughout the season
at Crazy Bear Wilderness Lodge.
Crazy Bear Lake itself is 2 miles long and is surrounded by 5 smaller
lakes, offering you quiet solitude in the great outdoors!
This is part of the headwaters of the famous Atnarko River,
and the streams connecting the six lakes offer plenty of places
to fish for our Wild Rainbow Trout. With fewer people at the
lodge, you are often the only person fishing in seclusion
at any given lake and seldom see another person in your outings
in the wilderness. The hikes between the lakes also make for
great opportunities to view wildlife such as moose, black
bear, caribou, mountain goats, soaring eagles and a variety
of birds.
Crazy Bear Lake, and Crazy Bear Wilderness Lodge, are the beginning,
and background for a great holiday. In addition to trout fishing
here in the Chilcotin region of British Columbia, we also
offer hiking, kayaking and wildlife photography opportunities.
You'll find old growth spruce, rugged snow-capped mountains,
glaciers, a spectacular waterfall and an occasional sandy
beach. For the more adventurous, you can hike to the furthest
of the chain of 6 lakes where you can stay overnight in a
Tee Pee, already set up for you! Catch your dinner in the
lake and cook fresh wild Rainbow Trout over a campfire. You
may even see a moose during your evening of fishing and fish
some more in the early morning light. This truly is a wilderness
fishing experience to remember!
Crazy Bear Wilderness Lodge is the only lodge on the lake and provides
comfortable and cozy individual log cabins that give you a
wonderful feeling of going back in time. Our cabins are nicely
spaced apart for your privacy and enjoyment, and each has
its own private balcony with a scenic view of the lake and
mountains. Each log cabin has a woodstove and propane lantern
which provides a cozy atmosphere for your enjoyment in the
evenings while hearing the call of the loons on the lake.
